Biscuit stories (favorites)

We love the Biscuit series. Biscuit is a little puppy that is playful and generally loves other animals. Overall, the stories are innocent and happy and the illustrations are cute, colorful and soft or flowy.

The books often say for ages 2-6. The stories are not complex, which argues for the low end of that range, but potentially because they are about a cute little puppy that just likes to play they may still be appropriate for the entire age range.

Biscuit Finds a Friend (1997): This one is a simple, short story that includes being lost, finding a friend, and the comfort of family. My little one loves pretty much every animal and was happy to see Biscuit find a friend in an unexpected animal, a duck.

Happy Thanksgiving Biscuit! (1999): This is a fall season story that for once, we are overly happy doesn’t focus on the scary parts of Halloween. And it even comes with lesson of being thankful.

Biscuit’s Christmas (2000): In this house, we love Christmas. This story has all the cuteness of a silly little puppy as it hits on many of the fun traditions of Christmas. There’s also the added bonus of Puddles, the kitty in this story.

Merry Christmas, from Biscuit (2001): Biscuit the cute little puppy, candy canes, Christmas carols, stockings by a fire, gingerbread cookies for Santa, and family! Who could ask for a better Christmas?

Biscuit Gives a Gift (2004): There are so many different types of gifts that can be given, but in this sweet story, Biscuit gives wonderful gifts - sharing a story, feeding other animals, and sharing some love with a sweet kiss.

Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch (2004): Another fall season story that doesn’t focus on the scary parts of Halloween! It’s a short happy visit to a pumpkin patch for Biscuit.

Biscuit’s Snowy Day (2005): We love the snow, and so does Biscuit! We currently have snowballs in our freezer and things like snowmen (especially Frosty) and sledding in deep fluffy snow have held Biscuit’s and my little one’s fascination from the very beginning.

Biscuit’s Day at the Farm (2007): We read the Biscuit stories out of order because we just happened to stumble upon this story first. We’ve read this one over and over for several years now. My little one couldn’t stop laughing how the pig escapes over and over and how the geese chase Biscuit to just say hi. It was a great opportunity to talk about life on a farm.

Biscuit’s Christmas Eve (2007): A cute little Christmas story about Christmas trees, Christmas presents, Christmas carolers, and the joy of family. As a heads up, this story does include Santa, which seems like parents either embrace or avoid at this time.

Biscuit’s First Trip (2010): A fun story that is only partially about taking a road trip and all the ways you can have fun in and out of the car. The other half is about family that loves and cares for each other and all the fun you can have in the snow and cold during the winter.

Biscuit and the Lost Teddy Bear (2011): Sweet Biscuit just wants to get a lost teddy bear back to the little boy that misses it so much.

Biscuit and the Great Fall Day (2022): An fun fall story that includes an energetic puppy and many of the fall classics including apples, falling leaves, a corn maze and a hay ride.

Cautions: We don’t have any blanket concerns for the series, but if we find any in individual stories we’ll mention them above.
