This book would make a wonderful gift from a child to a teacher, regardless of the grade level. When my child is older, I can see us giving this to a teacher that has played a special role in my little one’s life with a handwritten note of some sort. Or even if that person isn’t a school teacher, but a mentor or a coach or anyone in a similar role, this book is a lovely thank you.

We love books with a wholesome message, and this is one of them. The book is just what the title says – the many ways a teacher, in this book a grown-up bear, helped a child, a bear cub, grow, learn, or develop. It is simple. Each two-page spread features an image related to a sentence stating how a teacher played a role in little bear cub’s life.  

The images are sweet. They feel like a pencil sketch, but with plenty of color. They are soft, gentle, and comforting. This is not common for us, but interestingly with my little one the images sparked more conversation than the text itself.

This book belongs in the favorite category. It may not be a bedtime story read every night, though it can easily play that role, especially during the school year. But due to the message it is definitely a book that families will enjoy giving as much as reading.
