Review
The Bear Books by Karma Wilson were some of the first books gifted to us when we had our first little one. So of course, when we were looking for Christmas stories and saw Karma Wilson had written one, we checked it out right away. We love Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman and we especially love, love, love this Christmas book. It’s not only a Christmas story but it includes the Christmas story. Plus, the illustrations are adorable, and we rarely get surprised by where the narrative of a book for little ones is headed, but this one surprised us! Which we always enjoy a literary surprise.
One of the main characters is a mouse, Mortimer, and the story and illustrations really made me and my little one care and root for him – even though he was a mouse and we don’t like the thought of mice in the house, lurking and living just outside of our awareness!!
We are always on the hunt for a good Christmas book and this is one of our absolute favorite Christmas stories/books. We will definitely be giving it as a gift to others. We were impressed by the author’s ability to write a story about a mouse set in the modern day yet include the story of Christmas so naturally.
